Keith will be on call for the next two weeks. He started yesterday, and did not get called at all. They told him he needs to stay within 30 minutes of the data center. The servers are set up to page him automatically if anything goes down. He might be able to fix some problems from home, but may also have to go in to work if he cannot fix it from home. This is a new experience for us since he has never really been on call like this. There are about 5 other guys in the area he is working and they have 400 servers. We just hope that things will go well, and that he does not get called too much. He has only been in this new position in charge of servers for about a month, but the others have confidence in his ability to take the responsibility of being the one on call.

Call. What I love about it? It gives you a good reason to stay close to home. I'm glad there is a way for him to fix some of the problems from home--that will be great. Two weeks seems long, though, is that how they normally do it?
