Here is Parker with his Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Millettt. She has been a great teacher, and has done so many fun things with Parker's class. They had a fashion show for their program, and Parker picked these pajamas to wear. I got emotional just watching him, thinking about how quickly the time has passed and how fast he is growing up. He has learned a lot this year. He is a great reader, and far exceeded the reading goals for his age. He has improved in writing and counting. After the program we went back to his classroom and watched a slide show of photos throughout the year and ate cookies. Then we had about thirty minutes before Caleb was done with school. I asked Parker if he wanted to stay and watch the movie with a few other kids who were still at school, or if we should get Caleb out early and go home. The last thing Caleb does on early day is eat lunch, so I did not feel too bad about taking him out early. But, Parker picked to stay and watch the movie with the other kids.
Some of the highlights of kindergarten were the field trip to the zoo, jumping in the bouncy house on field day, and bringing in cupcakes for his birthday. His least favorite part was doing homework, because it took away his play time. He had a lot of homework. He had twenty minutes of reading, a reading packet, one sheet with handwriting and math, a sort, spelling test practice, and a blue paper that had things like letter sounds at the beginning of the year progressing to reading sentences.
