Great Day at the Zoo

We had a family council on Monday night for FHE and asked the kids what they wanted to do during Spring Break.  Spencer wanted to go to Madagascar and see the lemurs. For Christmas, my brother gave us a gift certificate to the planetarium, which we used to watch and IMAX movie about lemurs.  Ever since then Spencer has been obsessed with lemurs.
We looked at plane tickets to go to Madagascar.  It would only have taken from Thursday to Monday to get there, and $12,000 dollars.  As tempting as that was, we opted to go to the zoo instead thinking they had lemurs.
Sadly, after we searched the zoo for lemurs, I finally asked an employee if they had lemurs.  She informed me that they haven't had them since last year.  Parker and Spencer were disappointed, they had planned to watch the lemurs for thirty minutes.  Spencer did have fun watching the meerkats.
This is what happens when I ask my kids to get together for a photo
The weather was fabulous!  It was a little chilly when we got their, but not too bad with a jacket.  Spencer didn't want a coat or jacket, and was okay.  I was lucky to get him to wear pants instead of shorts.

We got tickets to ride the carousel and train.  When we got on the carousel, the lady running it had to stop it after about 10 seconds so she could check something.  We all had to get off while she checked, then back on.  We did get a full ride, but then she also let us ride one more time since our first ride was delayed.

This lion just sat their so close to the glass

The African Savanna was a new exhibit since I last went to the zoo a couple of years ago.

It was fun to see the giraffes running around, and get to see the 2 month old giraffe who is already 7 feet tall.

Parker's favorite was a baby monkey, just two or three months old.  He was also pretty excited to see a rooster just walking around.  He crowed to the rooster, and the rooster crowed back.  My favorite was an armadillo.  I don't ever remember seeing one before, but it was quite active.
