Summer Vacation

We went to visit my parents in Cheyenne during Frontier Days. My sister and her kids were visiting from Texas, and my other sister also came while we were there. It was a packed house, but we had a great time. We left on Saturday and told the kids we would stop in Rock Springs for lunch at McDonald's. We had never seen anyone so excited to get to Rock Springs! We arrived to my parents' house in time for dinner.

Sunday we went to church with my parents. My mom is the nursery leader, so she got to have Parker and Diana along with 15 other kids in nursery.

Monday we woke up early to go to a pancake breakfast as part of Frontier Days. This is an amazing, well organized breakfast. We stood in line for about ten or fifteen minutes and came out with a stack of pancakes, slice of ham, and milk for the kids. Then we headed over to the library for a magic show. Jennifer and her kids arrived Monday afternoon. We enjoyed having a big family home evening that night where Beth and Keith shared stories from their missions. Here we are enjoying our FHE treat.
After the kids went to bed Keith and I went to watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It was nice to be able to go out without kids.

Tuesday we went to a Behind the Chutes tour. We got to see the bulls and horses up close.
Then we went to a documentary about Cody Wright a world champion Saddle bronc rider. We had lunch at my parents' house and drove to Vedawoo, about 30 miles west of Cheyenne. We had a great time hiking around and climbing on the rocks.



Tuesday night my cousin Mark came for dinner with his wife Wendy and two cute girls.We celebrated Ashton's 13th birthday.

This is just one picture of the many times the kids ate outside on the back porch. The weather was beautiful while we were there. Grandma also has a park just through her back gate which the kids loved playing on any chance they got.

Wednesday we got up early to go see the Thunderbirds. The boys had fun playing catch with Keith and Grandpa while we waited for the show to start. Beth agreed to stay home with Alyssa and Diana if we took her older kids. I enjoyed the air show, but our kids were not very excited about it. They were digging in the dirt as the Thunderbirds flew over head. We stopped on the way home and got sunglasses for Beth's kids.

In the afternoon we went to see airplanes on display. Parker saw a couple of inflatable slides and a bounce house. Parker was so sad that we did not have any money for him to play on them. He did love riding on the school bus that shuttled us from the mall to the airport.
Thursday we came home and were glad to sleep in our own beds again. While we were gone Alyssa woke early in the morning, usually between 5 and 6:30 am. She does that at home sometimes, but will drink a bottle and go back to sleep until 7 or 8. At Grandma's house she just stayed up in the morning. It was fun to be together with so many family members and enjoy spending time together.
